A wonderful, wonderful thing to do, to give someone back their vision.
Jas Khangura was born in Canada in 1982 to Indian immigrant parents from India. In 1994, age of 12 year old Jas visited India with his family. In India Jas was saddened to see the hardships suffered by many at the bottom of the social ladder. He was particularly touched by so visually impaired people whom he met that were suffering worse than others due to their visual disability. Back in Canada he would often talk about his trip to India and the visually impair people who had touched his heart so much with their stories. Jas was always interested in education, sports and social issues. He was a keen soccer player. He was always willing and ready to help others wherever possible and for such a young soul often spoke surprisingly wise words of wisdom. Jas was a student at the University of British Columbia, Canada and wish to return India to help those in needs once he had completed his education. Sadly Jas was unable to complete his studies fell ill and sadly passed away in 2005.
Jas knowing that his days were numbered said that he was grateful for being fortunate and having had a good family, good friends and having lived a good life. He was very grateful to the doctors, nurses and hospital staff for having cared for him so much and very grateful to all who had been a part of his life. His only regret was that he was unable to fulfill his wish to help the visually impaired. After his passing, his family whilst going through his things found hand written letter that he had left for them. In his letter he requested that his family carry his wish and to help the visually impaired. Jas sadly is no longer with us but his wish has been fulfilled and his message still lives on and has changes the lives of thousand of people for the better. |
